Ríos Sin Nombre

The project began in 2022 during a journey through Peru with three friends, photographing them bathing naked in rivers, immersed in the freedom of being in water that remained unpolluted, pure enough to drink. These encounters made me reflect on the fragility of such places, particularly as rivers that once sustained entire communities have become contaminated by mining and extractive industries, rendering their waters unsafe to drink and disrupting the lives that depend on them.

Through analogue photography, portraiture, and multiple exposures, the work explores the relationship between woman bodies and landscapes, where human presence dissolves into water, earth, and vegetation. What began as a photographic exploration has since expanded into Uruguay through La piel del río, a lithographic project awarded a FEFCA grant for development in 2027. Already underway, this new stage translates the research into lithographic drawing and photolithography, extending the investigation across photographic and historical printmaking processes.
